Quilt Festival

I am so excited to be posting a quilt of my own for the Fall Blogger's Quilt Festival! I spent countless hours pouring over everyone else's entries in the Spring. So I set up this blog shortly after just so that I could get in on the action for the Fall show!



My favorite quilt at the moment is this quilt that my sister and I made together for the Sisters Quilt Show in Sisters, Oregon this past summer. We came up with the design when we were at the 2008 Quilt Show and then we both made 10 blocks. I live in California and she lives in Seattle so we worked on it when we saw each other throughout the year and put it all together. We were obviously inspired by a log cabin style block and we put a scrappy spin on it. We were so excited to be able to travel to Sisters again this summer to see our own quilt in the show. It is an amazing quilt show with over 1300 quilts hung all over town from all the buildings. I will have to do a separate post to show off some of our other favorites.





For now the quilt is on my bed and I love it! Thanks so much to Amy for hosting the quilt show again! You know where I will be on Sunday while my husband watches football!

Long time no see...

So the whole reason that I ever started this blog was because I wanted to be able to post the fabulous quilt that my sister and I made for the Blogger's Quilt Festival this month. I haven't done as well as I would have expected with keeping up on the posting end, but I do have a place to post about my favorite quilt when the Festival starts on Friday. I WILL post on that day!!!

Here are two of my most recent projects. Quilts for babies of two of my best friends. One for a boy born about a week ago and one for a girl due at the end of November. The boy quilt is Valori Wells Urban Chick flannels and it is so soft and cuddly! I had the strips from a roll that I had on hand so I added one more fabric and then the dots for the back. Easy-peezy-lemon-squeezy, as my six year old would say!



The second quilt is for a baby girl and I used mostly Sandi Henderson Ginger Blossoms fat quarters that I had in my stash. I made a huge log cabin like rectangle and put a nice thick double layer of flannel for the back. No batting, just two cozy layers of flannel. My friend is using it already and swears that she might not give it to the baby, I may have to make another once she is born!

Flea Market Fancy Freaks

I am so glad that Free Spirit is considering a reprint of Denyse Schmidt's Flea Market Fancy. I love this line! I have a few bits left but there are so many colors and prints that I wish I still had. I did catch on to this when it was out and had quite the stash at one point. Then I saw Valori Wells' pattern Yard Sale from her book "Simple Start Stunning Finish" and I knew that I had to make it! So here is my big Flea Market Fancy project! I really need to get a better picture of this one soon!

Nine Patch Quilt Along

I recently started my first quilt along with Amanda Jean of crazymomquilts. I love the inspiration quilt and making one nine patch a day seems easy enough. I have 29 done so far! Not quite one a day but pretty close! I love being able to pull from my scraps and finally use them! I have also been using fat quarters to keep up the variety but I am going to have to start using each fabric more than once. I kinda thought that I would have enough to avoid that, but no such luck!

Welcome to my first post!

Welcome to sew la di do! I can't believe how long I have thought about starting a blog and here it is. I actually am at a loss for words now that I have it set up! At least I found a picture of an adorable quilt that I recently finished to show off. It is Valori Well's Urban Flannels in a pattern that I made up, just a brick path pattern with a big piece of the beautiful rose print. Now I have to figure out what to post about tomorrow! : )
